New school year, new reality. The year 2020 have brought up so many changes and challenges, requiring from us to quickly adapt and reinvent our routines. When confronted to the fact that students were facing not only a decrease in their French skills, but also lacking opportunities to play and move, Miss Muriel decided to reopen the doors of her studio in Coconut Grove. After a whole Summer of online programs through Zoom, Muriel's Learning Pods for kids from French International Studies (IS) programs in Miami are open.
These learning pods are dedicated to provide students from kindergarten to 3rd grade with an environment where they can learn in a playful way that combines French academic content, art and movement (mindfulness, yoga, games) in semi-private seasonal group sessions with up to 6 students per class. The students come weekly to their sessions where, although they are required to wear masks and practice physical distancing, they can enjoy being unplugged from their screens, exploring sensorial tools trough art, and the mindful benefits from movement activities.
The lockdown and social distancing imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic context, deeply impacts children opportunities to learn, move and interact with others. Miss Muriel's classes bring children together in a friendly environment to unfold academic learning and emotional wellness.
