Back to School with Miss Muriel: Fall Sessions for kids in grades K, 1 and 2

Updated: Aug 12, 2020

La Cour des Arts with Miss Muriel is now smoothly re-opening to receive students for in studio one-on-one and small group French, Art & Yoga classes.

Parallel to the 2020-21 school calendar, Miss Muriel will be offering after-school French classes for young children in the International French Programs at Elementary Schools. The program was created to allow your child to interact and connect with other kids in-studio through small groups, respecting physical distancing, and using face covers.

These weekly French classes infused with Yoga, will give students an opportunity to deepen in their French academic program while creating a fun learning environment, and inspiring them to approach the evolving school models with curiosity and confidence.

Muriel's individualized method respects each child's needs and personality allowing the child not only to learn a language but to also develop a sense of belonging and self-expression.

Enrollment is open for the Fall Session. Registrations are required and spots are limited to 6 students per class. Check our Registration tab for enrollment.

Why these classes are infused with Yoga?

Miss Muriel has been integrating Yoga and Art to her academic programs to allow the kids to release tensions, relax and be ready for academic learning. Now more than ever, our kids are lacking movement and connection with the space within themselves. Many of them don't know how to slow down their racing thoughts or even how to properly breathe. This reflects directly in their ability to focus and learn, and generates anxiety and frustration.

"Yoga and mindfulness have been shown to improve both physical and mental health in school-age children (ages 6 to 12). Yoga improves balance, strength, endurance, and aerobic capacity in children. Yoga and mindfulness offer psychological benefits for children as well. A growing body of research has already shown that yoga can improve focus, memory, self-esteem, academic performance, and classroom behavior, and can even reduce anxiety and stress in children."

"When I first sent my son to a Yoga & Art class with Miss Muriel, he fell asleep during the savasana pose. Kids today have such an intense academic load and stimulating exposure to electronic devices that pushes their nervous systems beyond healthy limits. There is little understanding to the importance of their need for creativity, movement, and relaxation; little awareness is dedicated to acknowledge the importance of a regular routine and the benefits of slowing down to digest our daily impressions. A collaborative environment that fosters critical thinking allowing time for observation, contemplation, and emotional expression is crucial for thriving wellness and healthy growth. This is what La Cour des Arts is all about! I'm so grateful to have my child enrolled in Miss Muriel's programs." — Carol, mom of Gael.
